Varicocele surgery risks

Varicocele surgery risks

Varicocele is mainly used to treat male infertility. Generally, patients with severe varicocele need to be treated with surgery. However, many men do not understand varicocele and worry that this surgery will harm their health. In fact, going to a regular professional hospital for varicocele will not cause much harm to their health.

Varicocele surgery risks

1. Causes physical discomfort in men

Patients with varicocele have a certain degree of scrotal pain after surgery. In addition, patients may also have some negative emotions and symptoms such as neurasthenia, such as abnormal mood, fatigue, insomnia and other discomforts, which bring many negative effects to male friends.

2. Sexual dysfunction still exists

After high varicocelectomy, a certain proportion of patients often experience sexual dysfunction such as low libido, pain during intercourse, and erectile dysfunction, leading to disharmony in family life.

3. Male infertility

If the patient has corresponding symptoms of testicular atrophy before undergoing high varicocele ligation, it is very likely that the patient will have abnormal sperm symptoms such as abnormal sperm, low sperm count, and reduced sperm motility after the operation.

4. Postoperative bleeding

After a male patient undergoes high varicocelectomy, if the doctor fails to suture tightly or the ligature slips off during the operation, it may cause heavy bleeding in the patient and endanger the patient's life and health.

5. Sperm disorders

After varicocele surgery, the incision may not heal smoothly, which may lead to poor venous reflux and increase the testicular temperature. Since the occurrence and growth of sperm requires a specific temperature environment, if the temperature is not suitable for sperm occurrence, it will also be hindered to a certain extent.

6. Scrotal edema

During surgery, carbon dioxide can enter the scrotum through the incision in the groin, causing scrotal gas accumulation. Usually this situation can be improved by squeezing the scrotum to remove the gas after surgery.

High ligation of varicocele is not the only way to treat varicocele. During the treatment process, patients need to cooperate with the doctor's diagnosis and treatment to achieve the best treatment effect. At the same time, timely treatment of urogenital system infections (such as prostatitis, urethritis, etc.) to reduce the chance of inflammation is also an important means to prevent varicocele.
