What causes foamy urine in men?

When there are problems with our physical health, many symptoms will appear. Therefore, when there are abnormal phenomena in the body, it is best to go to the hospital for examination so that timely treatment can be carried out without delaying the disease. For example, when men urinate, foamy urine may be a normal phenomenon, but it may also be caused by some diseases. However, when such a phenomenon occurs, men must pay attention to it.

What causes foamy urine in men?

1. Prostatitis

Prostatitis refers to acute or chronic inflammation caused by specific or non-specific infection of the prostate, which can cause systemic or local symptoms. Foamy urine may be caused by prostatitis. If a man has prostatitis, his urine may carry prostatic fluid, which will cause oil droplets on the surface of the urine, resulting in increased foam in the urine.

In addition to foamy urine, other common symptoms of prostatitis include: urinary urgency and pain, burning sensation in the urethra, dribbling urination, occasional difficulty urinating, thin or interrupted urine flow

2. Urinary tract infections, such as urethritis, can also cause foamy urine

When you have urethritis, the urinary tract is infected with gas-producing bacteria, such as Escherichia coli and Aerobacterium oxytoca. When these gas-producing bacteria cause urinary tract infection, they can ferment substances such as glucose in the urine, resulting in foamy urine.

Urethritis also has the following common symptoms: frequent urination, urgent urination, painful urination, and discomfort during urination. Patients with acute inflammation often have obvious signs of urinary tract irritation, but in patients with chronic urinary tract infection, the symptoms of urinary tract irritation are usually mild, such as mild frequent urination, urgent urination, or discomfort during urination.

3. Bladder diseases, such as cystitis

When men suffer from cystitis, foam will be produced due to changes in the composition of their urine.

4. Too much time without sex

Couples who have been separated for a long time and have stopped having sex for too long; those who are frequently sexually excited will have foam in the urine due to increased mucus secretion from the bulbourethral glands and increased tension on the urine surface.

5. Urination too quickly will also increase foam

When urinating urgently, the urination pressure increases, the urination rate increases, the tension on the urine surface increases, and more bubbles may be seen.

6. There are semen components in the urethra

If there is semen in the urethra of men, foamy urine may occur, such as retrograde ejaculation (common in patients with diabetes and autonomic nervous system dysfunction); frequent sexual excitement increases the secretion of mucus by the bulbourethral glands, and after spermatorrhea.

7. Urine Concentration

In cases of drinking too little water, sweating too much, diarrhea, etc., the body's lack of water causes the urine to become concentrated, resulting in higher concentrations of protein and other components in the urine, which can easily lead to increased foam in the urine.

8. Diabetes

When men suffer from diabetes, the content of glucose or ketone bodies in the urine increases, the pH of the urine changes, and the surface tension of the urine increases. When they have liver and kidney diseases, the content of bilirubin or protein in the urine increases, the surface tension of the urine increases, and more bubbles are produced during urination. When there are gas-producing bacteria in the urinary tract, bubbles can be produced in the urine.
