Boys' rebellious period

Boys' rebellious period

Basically every child will have a rebellious period. Once a child reaches the rebellious period, the parents will have the most headaches, because during the rebellious period, the child will basically do the opposite of what the parents do. In particular, the rebellious period of boys will be longer than that of girls, so when boys enter the rebellious period, parents must pay attention to guidance. Generally speaking, how long does the rebellious period of boys last?

When does a boy's rebellious period end?

Most of them are 12 years old or earlier.

Teenagers are in a psychological "transitional period" and their sense of independence and self-awareness are growing day by day. They are eager to get rid of adult supervision. They object to adults treating them as "children" and regard themselves as adults. In order to show their "extraordinariness", they tend to be critical of everything. It is precisely because they feel or worry that the outside world ignores their independent existence that they develop a rebellious mentality, and thus use various means and methods to establish the equal status of "self" and the outside world.

Although rebellious psychology is not an unhealthy psychology, it is an abnormal psychology when it reacts strongly. Parents should look at their children's rebellious period of adolescence dialectically. This stage is a critical period for the formation of children's worldview, and their personality and creativity are rising freely and waiting for the opportunity to show off.

When is the rebellious period for children?

The rebellious behavior that appears at the age of 2-3 is a manifestation of the first rebellious period in life, called the "baby rebellious period."

At the age of 6-8, children enter the second rebellious period of life, which is called the "childhood rebellious period."

The age of 12-18 is the third rebellious period in life, which is the most common and well-known "youth rebellious period".

Typical manifestations of children's rebellious period

1. Very destructive: throwing things, taking apart toys, scribble and draw, tearing up books, and deliberately throwing toys all over the floor.

2. Stubborn and violent emotional reactions: Insisting on having a specific thing, even if it looks the same; Insisting on wearing a certain piece of clothing or a certain pair of shoes, even if it is not suitable for the season; Determined to do what he wants to do, otherwise he will cry and make a fuss; Sitting on the ground and hitting people in public.

3. Contradicting parents and ignoring them: Refusing to do anything their parents ask them to do, and wanting to do things that are forbidden more often; ignoring their parents, and preferring to play by themselves without their parents playing together.

4. Challenge rules and authority and push the bottom line: intentionally break previously set rules; make new demands one after another; and make conditions with parents and will not do anything until the demands are met.

5. Conflicts with other children and prone to violence: When playing with other children, they fight for the same toy and the order of priority. They are unwilling to share toys with others, but they love to grab other people's toys. In serious cases, they even hit others.

What should parents do if their children are rebellious?

1. Understand your child’s feelings

Parents should not put themselves in opposition to their children, but learn to stand in the child's position and try to understand his feelings.

2. Find out the psychological reasons for resistance

Understanding does not mean not setting rules. However, when setting rules for children, parents cannot "enforce" those rules that they always resist without explanation. Instead, they should find out the reasons why children resist and then find ways to solve them.
