Varicose veins in men affect fertility

Varicose veins are a common clinical problem, and varicose veins can occur in many places, including varicocele. Varicose veins are a type of varicose veins. Varicose veins in men have a great impact on the body, especially if the varicocele is severe, it is very difficult to treat. So will varicocele affect fertility in men?

1. Impact on fertility

If the varicocele is severe, it will lead to reduced male fertility. Literature has shown that varicocele will lead to reduced semen quality. It is one of the causes of male infertility, accounting for about 20% to 40%. Varicose veins will affect the normal functioning of the male reproductive organs and the secretion of semen by the testicles. It will lead to sperm malformation and poor development, and will also lead to infertility. Urgent treatment is needed.

2. High chance of infertility

The main reason for infertility caused by varicocele in male patients is dilation and tortuosity of the veins, increased local temperature, and accumulation of carbon dioxide in the testicular tissue. After the accumulation of carbon dioxide, the concentrations of catecholamines, cortisol, and prostaglandins in the blood increase, affecting the normal nervous function of the testicles, resulting in reduced quality of male sperm production and reduced sperm motility, which will affect spermatogenesis. Since the venous system of both testicles has collateral circulation, it will lead to damage to the function of both testicles.

3. Affects the testicles

There are many circulations between the testicular vein and the spermatic vein. When varicocele occurs, the blood in the spermatic vein will flow backwards, causing the metabolites carried in the adrenal glands and venous blood, such as steroids, to flow into the testicles without detoxification, resulting in problems with the spermatogenesis of the testicles. Varicose veins block the return of local veins, resulting in a lack of oxygen in the testicles and changes in the growth environment of sperm. It affects the normal development of sperm. When the testicular tissue is in a state of hypoxia, harmless oxygen will often turn into destructive active oxygen free radicals, destroying the cell structure and increasing lipid peroxidation, which will also affect the production of sperm.
