Prostate examination is a common examination technique currently. It can observe the current status of the prostate through intuitive technology. Prostate examination methods are usually divided into different types, but during the examination process, the bladder is often required to be full. If the patient does not drink water, the doctor will ask us to replenish more water, and drink at least 500 ml. Do I need to fast for a prostate exam? Whether fasting is required for a prostate examination depends on whether the prostate examination items required. The ultrasound examination of the urinary system requires a full bladder in order to clearly see the lower ureter and the prostate (located behind the bladder, so the bladder needs to be filled as a sound-transmitting window) to rule out the presence of stones in this section of the ureter and prostate disease. Generally, drink 500-1000ml of water 30 minutes before the examination to fill the bladder moderately and store about 300ml of urine. This is because an overfilled bladder will blur the image, while an underfilled bladder will affect the examination results. There are two ways to examine the prostate. One is transrectal B-ultrasound examination. In addition to filling the bladder, the rectum should be emptied on the day of the examination. If necessary, a cleansing enema should be performed to remove the intestinal contents from interfering with ultrasound imaging. The other is transabdominal B-ultrasound examination. The advantage of this method is that the patient does not feel any discomfort and does not cause urinary tract infection, but it is not as clear as transrectal examination. Do I need to fast for a prostate exam? 1. Weakened male sexual ability: Prostatitis can cause the male's sexual nerves and nerve centers to be frequently excited. However, if they remain in an excited state for a long time, it can easily lead to the suppression of male sexual arousal, thus inducing male sexual dysfunction. 2. Induce gynecological diseases in women: Due to some bacterial infections that induce prostatitis in men, it is easy for these bacteria to enter the female reproductive organs during sexual intercourse, causing women to be infected and induce gynecological inflammation. 3. Endocrine disorders: The prostate of a normal man can secrete a variety of active substances, but suffering from prostatitis can easily affect the secretions, leading to endocrine disorders in men, causing symptoms such as dizziness and fatigue in men. 4. Life and work are affected: Men suffering from prostatitis may experience frequent urination, urgency, and incomplete urination, which often cause patients to lose control of their emotions and become anxious, thus affecting their normal life and work. 5. Infection of other adjacent organs: If prostatitis is not treated for a long time, it is easy for the inflammation in men to spread, thereby infecting adjacent organs and inducing the occurrence of inflammation. |
