Can epididymitis heal on its own?

Epididymitis is a common disease problem in men. For inflammatory diseases, drugs should be used for treatment. Anti-inflammatory drugs are necessary. But relatively speaking, some men may be in better health, or their condition may be relatively mild, so they can recover faster. Some people also believe that some diseases may heal themselves. Can epididymitis heal itself?

Can epididymitis heal on its own?

Epididymitis is a non-specific infection of the male reproductive system. It cannot heal itself without treatment. It is recommended that you actively cooperate with the doctor for treatment. Using local anesthetics to infiltrate the spermatic cord above the testicle may cure the disease. The body temperature usually drops rapidly, the pain can disappear completely, and the inflammatory mass can be absorbed within a few days. Thus, the purpose of treating epididymitis is achieved. Once you suffer from epididymitis, you must actively and clearly diagnose it as soon as possible and treat it thoroughly in the early stage. Severe cases may affect fertility due to epididymitis.

Can epididymitis be cured?

Epididymitis can be cured. As long as the patient actively takes effective measures for treatment and maintains a happy attitude, the disease will be cured within a certain period of time. If the treatment effect is not good, it will affect the cure rate of epididymis, so when the treatment effect is not good, the treatment plan should be adjusted.

1) Eliminate the cause of the disease and treat it: If the patient suffers from epididymis due to chronic prostatitis or epididymis due to seminal vesiculitis, the chronic prostatitis and seminal vesiculitis should be treated first, and then the chronic epididymis disease should be treated.

(2) Antimicrobial drug treatment: Choose the appropriate drug based on bacterial culture and drug sensitivity test. When taking the drug, pay attention to the following: 1. The time of use should be appropriate; 2. The dosage should be appropriate.

(3) Local hot compress or physical therapy: to promote the disappearance of inflammation and restore health as soon as possible

(4) Surgical treatment: If the patient has recurrent attacks, epididymis removal or vasectomy may be considered.

Sequelae of acute epididymitis

1. Repeated episodes of epididymitis will lead to chronic epididymitis. The inflammation will cause scar tissue to block the epididymal duct, making it impossible for sperm to pass through, thus leading to infertility.

2. Acute epididymitis can cause the presence of immobile dead sperm or immobile sperm in the discharged semen, leading to the occurrence of asthenospermia and necrospermia.

3. After the epididymis is infected by pathogens, some pathogens can directly damage the sperm in the epididymal duct, thereby inhibiting the activity of the sperm or causing the sperm to coagulate, or even some sperm adsorbed on the surface of the sperm, greatly reducing the activity of the sperm.

4. The toxins produced by pathogens can kill sperm, resulting in dead sperm. At the same time, white blood cells and giant cells can also accidentally injure sperm when destroying pathogens, causing a significant decrease in sperm quality.

How to treat epididymitis

Special treatment: If the patient sees a doctor within 24 hours of onset, 20 ml of 1% procaine or lidocaine local anesthetic is used to infiltrate the spermatic cord above the testicle, which may completely relieve the disease. The body temperature usually drops rapidly, the pain can disappear completely, and the inflammatory mass can be absorbed within a few days, otherwise it usually takes 2 to 3 weeks to absorb. If one injection cannot completely achieve the purpose, another injection can be given the next day. Antibiotics are helpful for treatment, and secondary cystitis will be cured quickly.

General treatment: During the acute phase (3-4 days), patients should rest in bed. Using a scrotal support can alleviate symptoms. A homemade larger scrotal support with a cotton pad will be more comfortable. Painkillers can be used for severe pain. Local heat therapy can relieve symptoms and promote the disappearance of inflammation. However, using heat therapy too early can aggravate pain and has the risk of promoting the spread of infection, so it is advisable to use ice packs for local cold compresses in the early stage. Sexual intercourse and physical labor can aggravate infection, so they should be avoided.
