Why does the glans penis sometimes itch?

The glans is a very sensitive part of the male reproductive organ, and it is the main tissue for men to obtain sexual pleasure, which has a great impact on men's lives. The glans has a well-developed nervous network, but the skin is very thin, and it is easy to be ruptured by external forces, causing great pain to men. The glans may also be infected by viruses, etc. Let's take a look at why the glans sometimes itches?

Itching of the glans penis is usually caused by genital infections such as balanitis. The patient will feel itching or burning sensation in the glans penis, followed by pain. After suppuration, pus may flow and have a foul odor. In severe cases, there will be fatigue, low fever, enlarged and tender inguinal lymph nodes. Some patients may scratch the glans penis due to itching, making the inflammation more serious.

Differential diagnosis

1. Swelling of the glans penis

The penis and glans are congested and edematous. Based on the history of sexual contact before the onset of the disease, especially the history of unclean sexual intercourse, the typical clinical manifestations and course, the development of soft and flat papules, pustules, ulcers, unilateral purulent lymphadenitis after a short latent period, the detection of Haemophilus ducreyi by direct microscopy and culture, and the detection of Haemophilus ducreyi DNA by PCR, a diagnosis can be made.

2. Superficial ulcer of the penis

Penile ulcer is a localized defect and erosion of the penile skin surface tissue, and its surface is often covered with pus, necrotic tissue or scab.

treatment

Treat the underlying condition causing the itching of the glans penis.

Clean the area every day or disinfect with iodine; or use Jie'eryin to clean and apply fluoride cream locally to relieve discomfort.

For bacterial infection, clean the area with 1:5000 potassium permanganate solution and apply antibiotic ointment, commonly used is compound ketoconazole ointment. Take antibiotics at the same time.

You can choose physical therapy. You can also do circumcision surgery to prevent inflammation.

Prevention

1. Pay attention to personal hygiene on a daily basis. If itching symptoms occur, go to the hospital immediately.

2. Actively treat the primary disease. For example: balanitis, prepuce is too long, etc. If the above diseases are found, they should be treated first.

3. Avoid unclean sexual intercourse to prevent infection with Candida albicans, Trichomonas, Chlamydia, Mycoplasma, Gonorrhea or other bacteria.
