Itching in male urethra

Itching in male urethra

Boys should have smooth urination. If you feel itchy in your urethra during urination, it is mainly caused by bacterial infection. The causes of urethritis mainly include gonococci and various bacterial infections. Go to the hospital to extract urethral secretions for examination, pay attention to personal hygiene, and avoid unclean sexual behavior.

What is male urethral itching?

Itching of the urethra is commonly seen in patients with urethritis, which is generally caused by bacterial infection. Clinically, common pathogens that cause urethritis include gonococci, Chlamydia trachomatis, Ureaplasma urealyticum, etc. It is generally transmitted through sexual contact, and patients mainly show symptoms such as itching of the urethra, burning sensation when urinating, swollen penis, and increased urethral secretions. Generally, patients have a history of unclean sexual intercourse five or six days before the onset of symptoms, and a small number of patients can be infected through contact with contaminated clothes.

For urethritis, most cases can be cured if you go to the hospital for treatment in the early stage. If the condition is delayed or the treatment is not thorough, it often turns from acute inflammation to chronic, which is prone to complications of reproductive tract infection. Common ones include seminal vesiculitis, epididymitis, etc., so early diagnosis and early treatment are very critical. Usually in clinical practice, cephalosporins can be used for treatment of gonococcal infection, and doxycycline, azithromycin, etc. can be used for treatment of mycoplasma and chlamydia infection.

Male urethral itching

Generally speaking, if there is a history of sexual contact, urinary pain accompanied by urethral itching, and urethral discharge, it may be infection with gonococci and gonorrhea; if there is no history of sexual contact and the above symptoms occur, it may be urethritis. Among urinary tract infections, urethritis and cystitis are the most common lower urinary tract infections.

Generally speaking, male urethral itching is not a serious disease. It is just mild discomfort such as frequent urination, urgency, and pain during urination, and it will improve quickly after treatment. Therefore, many people do not pay attention to it. They buy some anti-inflammatory drugs at the pharmacy on their own and stop taking the drugs when they think they are fine. This makes it easy for a small number of pathogenic bacteria to escape the attack of antibiotics and survive. At the right time, they will come back and cause a relapse. In addition, the bacteria will develop drug resistance, making subsequent treatment more difficult.

The main symptom of urethritis in male patients is excessive urethral discharge, which is mucous at first and gradually becomes purulent. There is burning pain in the urethra during urination, frequent urination and urgency. In severe cases, urethral spasm may occur.
