Male circumcision

Male circumcision

For male friends, an excessively long foreskin is very harmful. If it is not thoroughly cleaned, it will cause infection. It will also cause bacterial infection in the female during sexual intercourse. In severe cases, it may cause gynecological diseases. Therefore, it can be seen that male phimosis is particularly necessary and has many benefits. For male friends, the probability of suffering from diseases such as glansitis is greatly reduced, and for female friends, the probability of suffering from gynecological diseases is also much lower.

1. Benefits of circumcision

Medically, circumcision is considered a routine surgery that is beneficial to sexual health and disease prevention. Circumcision can bring lifelong medical benefits. Circumcision is beneficial to both the man himself and his spouse after marriage.

1. For men: (1) Eliminate the danger of phimosis. Because the foreskin covers the glans penis for a long time, the humidity and temperature inside the foreskin increase, bacteria can easily grow and multiply, and inflammation may occur. Over time, the foreskin and glans penis may adhere to each other (adhesive phimosis), and smegma may form. (2) The risk of penile skin infection is reduced by three times; (3) The risk of urinary tract infection in infants and young children is reduced by ten times; (4) The risk of penile cancer is reduced by more than twenty times; (5) The risk of prostate cancer is reduced by two times; (6) The probability of HIV infection through sexual intercourse is reduced by 60%; (7) There is also substantial protection against other sexually transmitted diseases such as papillomavirus, syphilis, and chancroid; (8) Sexual function is as good as or better than that of uncircumcised people. (9) Circumcision of soldiers in the military helps to improve their combat effectiveness.

2. For women: (1) The chances of vaginal infection with anaerobic bacteria, Gram-negative rods, streptococci and mycoplasma are reduced, significantly reducing the incidence of bacterial vaginosis; (2) The risk of female sexual partners suffering from cervical cancer caused by human papillomavirus and chlamydia infection is reduced by five times; (3) Most women prefer the appearance of the penis after circumcision and are more willing to have sexual activity with it.

2. Risks of circumcision

Although circumcision is the simplest minor surgery, it has certain risks if not performed properly. A 1989 survey by the American Academy of Pediatrics reported that the incidence of complications after circumcision was approximately 0.2% to 0.6%, with bleeding and local infection being the most common. According to reports, (1) mild bleeding may occur in one out of 500 circumcisions. This type of bleeding can be stopped by applying pressure, and occasionally requires suturing or reoperation (1/1000). About 1/4000 require antibiotics due to infection. Although local infection may occur, it is likely to be part of the normal healing process. (2) Severe complications resulting from circumcision requiring hospitalization are rare, at approximately 1/5000. (3) There have been no reports of penile amputation or death caused by circumcision performed by regular physicians.
