Why does it hurt after ejaculation?

Ejaculation is a physiological characteristic of men, so it is normal. Whenever a couple has sex, the man will ejaculate at a certain stage. However, some men will experience pain after ejaculation. The causes of pain vary depending on the situation, but generally it may be related to personal hygiene, unclean sex life, and urethritis, so you should pay attention to your personal hygiene and habits.

One of the most obvious clinical causes of painful ejaculation is prostatitis. Prostatic spasmodic pain often occurs immediately before ejaculation and lasts until after ejaculation. The degree of pain is related to the intensity and duration of sexual activity. Although the origin of the pain is in the prostate, the pain and discomfort can be located in or radiate to the urethra and glans penis. Inflammatory changes are the most common cause of abnormalities or pain, such as posterior urethritis, follicular inflammation, prostatitis, seminal vesiculitis, vas deferens, ejaculatory ductitis, etc. Inflammation causes local congestion and edema, accompanied by cramping pain due to rhythmic muscle contraction during ejaculation. Infection can also cause urethral stenosis, making semen discharge difficult and causing pain during ejaculation. If the skin of the penis is allergic to condoms or contraceptive creams, it can cause allergic dermatitis and cause pain during intercourse. This can be avoided by stopping or switching to other contraceptive methods. If there are ulcers on the coronal sulcus and neck of the penis, scars will be left after healing. When the penis is erect and twitching during intercourse, pulling pain will occur. In this case, surgery is required to remove the scar tissue.

During intercourse, some men will experience paroxysmal pain in the penis, urethra, perineum, and above the scrotum when ejaculating. This pain is called ejaculation pain, which is mostly caused by organic lesions of the reproductive organs. There are mainly the following reasons.

1. Excessive sexual intercourse: Excessive sexual intercourse often causes aseptic inflammation of the vas deferens, seminal vesicles and urethra, causing these organs to become congested and swollen. During ejaculation, the smooth muscles contract, stimulating these congested organs and causing pain.

2. Stones: Male urethral stones are common. When small stones are embedded in the posterior urethra, especially in the opening of the ejaculatory duct, these parts will contract and peristalsis during ejaculation, squeezing the stones and causing pain. If there are stones in the prostate or seminal vesicles, these parts will also contract and cause pain during ejaculation.

3. Genital inflammation: Male lower urinary tract infection is the most common cause of painful ejaculation. When suffering from cystitis, urethritis, and prostatitis, the muscles of these organs contract rhythmically during ejaculation, which is a mechanical stimulation to the inflammatory lesions, causing severe pain. Some patients may also experience painful spermatorrhea.

4. Tumors: Malignant tumors of male urogenital organs will mostly cause ejaculation pain. For example, when tumors occur in the testicles, epididymis, prostate, etc., they compress or block the ejaculatory duct, causing pain during ejaculation. However, the pain is relatively mild, mostly dull pain and soreness. Although the chances of tumors occurring in the seminal vesicles and vas deferens are low, the progression of the disease is mostly hidden. Therefore, this pain should be taken seriously.

5. Other diseases: People with penile sclerosis will experience pain during intercourse when the penis is erect, which worsens during ejaculation. People with urethral stenosis will experience poor semen discharge, and the urethra will try to force out semen, which will also cause pain. In addition, male urinary tuberculosis and urethral polyps can also cause ejaculation pain.
