What causes low sperm forward motility?

If a man's sperm has low forward movement ability, he may have sperm motility disorder, which is a male disease. The activity of sperm will be greatly reduced. If the situation is serious, it may even lead to male infertility. So this is a very serious problem. So what are the reasons for the low forward movement of sperm?

What causes low sperm forward motility?

Sperm forward motility refers to the percentage of sperm in the semen that move forward, also known as the forward motility percentage or sperm motility. So far, it is one of the routine examination indicators for evaluating the quality of semen. So, what is the general sperm forward motility? We all know that in order to get pregnant, sperm and egg must combine, which requires sperm to have sufficient motility, so what is the reason for low sperm forward motility?

Sperm motility is generally divided into five levels, with level 3 indicating very good sperm motility, moving in a straight line forward; level 4 indicating extremely good sperm motility, moving in a fast straight line forward. Normally, more than 50% of sperm should have level 3 and 4 motility, and at least 25% of the active sperm should move in a straight line forward. Low sperm motility is generally caused by the following reasons:

1. Endocrine factors: In addition to affecting the occurrence and maturation of sperm, endocrine hormones also affect the motility of sperm. When the E2 level in serum increases, the motility of sperm is reduced. Excessive testosterone in seminal plasma may inhibit the motility of sperm.

2. Infection: Acute and chronic inflammation of the reproductive tract or reproductive glands such as the epididymis, vas deferens, seminal vesicles and prostate can reduce the motility of sperm. The impact of infection on sperm motility can be multifaceted. Seminal vesiculitis and prostatitis can both cause low sperm survival rate.

3. Immune factors: The reason for low sperm survival rate Anti-sperm antibodies (AsAb) can affect the fertilization function of sperm in several different ways.

4. Abnormal semen liquefaction: Semen failure to liquefy or high viscosity is one of the causes of male infertility. One important factor may be that it causes infertility by affecting the motility of sperm.
