How to determine testicular inversion

How to determine testicular inversion

Many male friends will experience testicular inversion when sleeping at night, which is a sudden and severe pain. Generally, the initial pain is in the scrotum, and as the disease progresses, it will gradually move down to the perineum and abdomen. Once a man has testicular inversion, it will inevitably bring a lot of discomfort to the body, such as tenderness, redness and swelling in the genitals, and severe symptoms such as fever, nausea, and vomiting.

1. Sudden severe pain in the abdomen.

2. Severe testicular pain.

3. The position of the twisted testicle in the scrotum appears higher than that of the normal testicle.

4. The child may experience nausea and vomiting.

5. A few hours after the onset of symptoms, the scrotum will become red, swollen and tender.

The clinical manifestations of testicular torsion are mainly pain and swelling. If it occurs in children, it is often more difficult to diagnose. Children will have unexplained anorexia and restlessness, and the disease usually develops faster.

treatment

If testicular torsion occurs, the best treatment is surgery. There are two types of surgical methods: surgical reduction and manual reduction.

1. Surgical reduction

After the diagnosis of testicular torsion is made, surgery should be performed as soon as possible to reduce the testicle and try to complete the surgery within 6 hours of the onset of symptoms. After the twisted testicle is reduced, observe whether the blood circulation is normal, and then perform intermittent suture fixation of the testicle, spermatic cord and scrotal inner layer of the tunica vaginalis to prevent recurrence after surgery. If the testicular blood circulation is found to be extremely poor during the operation and cannot be restored after reduction, the testicle should be removed.

2. Manual restoration

Generally, it can be tried at the beginning of the disease. Analgesics and antispasmodics should be given first, and the horizontal and lifted testicles should be gently repositioned half an hour later. After successful repositioning, the scrotum should be supported with a "T" band to allow the affected testicle to fully rest. However, repositioning by manipulation cannot prevent recurrence.

After the operation, you can apply ice to relieve pain and edema. At the same time, you should use a "T" band to support the scrotum for one week to gradually restore normal function.

Prevention

In daily life, many patients are careless about testicular torsion and endure the pain again and again, which delays early treatment. Some people lose their fertility and lead to lifelong misfortune. Therefore, if patients in and around puberty suddenly experience scrotal swelling and pain, especially teenagers, they should consider the possibility of testicular torsion and go to the hospital's urology department for examination and treatment in time.

In the early stage of testicular torsion, manual reduction can achieve good results. However, if the disease lasts for a long time, it can only be treated surgically. In addition, if testicular torsion unfortunately occurs, after treatment, you should ask your doctor to do a routine semen examination to understand the function of the diseased testicle and the contralateral testicle. This is even more important for unmarried young men.
