Does prostate cyst need treatment? What will happen if it is not treated?

Generally speaking, if the cyst is relatively small, it will not harm health, so it is okay not to treat it. However, if the cyst is relatively large, it should be treated in time, otherwise it may even cause infertility in male friends.

1. What are the symptoms of prostate cysts?

Common symptoms of prostatic cysts: urinary urgency, frequent urination, strained urination, thin urine stream and urine retention. Congenital prostatic cysts are often accompanied by congenital diseases such as hypospadias, cryptorchidism and renal dysplasia. When the cyst is large, rectal examination can touch the cyst in the prostate, and urethrography can show arc-shaped pressure marks in the posterior urethra. Ultrasound and CT can clearly determine its location.

2.How to treat prostate cysts?

Generally speaking, small cysts are harmless. This type of cyst is mostly related to congenital diseases, such as liver cysts and kidney cysts. If the cyst reaches the size of a peanut, it is necessary to consider treatment.

There are many ways to treat prostate cysts, including medication, puncture, drainage, etc. In clinical practice, non-surgical treatment is generally considered for ordinary cysts, which can achieve better results. If the cyst is large and abscessed, surgical treatment must be considered.

3. How to treat prostate cysts

Drug therapy

Antipyretics and analgesics should be given, either orally or by intramuscular injection. Select sensitive antibiotics based on the results of bacterial culture. For obvious urinary pain, antiseptics such as bromocriptine, probenfen, and uroling can be used.

Acupuncture

The treatment of prostate cysts is relatively simple. Through the anus, a long needle is inserted into the pus cavity, and a syringe is used to aspirate until the pus is completely sucked out. Sometimes it will not completely disappear in one time, and two or more times are needed.

Drainage treatment

If the abscess is large and contains a lot of pus, it is best to perform abscess incision and drainage. Use an anorectoscope to expose the prostate area, use a sharp knife to cut the rectal wall into the abscess, drain the pus and place a drainage tube. Depending on the drainage situation and combined with examination, the time to remove the drainage tube can be determined. Antibiotics are still needed for treatment.
