What are the symptoms of gonococcal prostatitis?

Prostatitis can be divided into two types: gonococcal and non-gonococcal. Gonorrheal is the most common type. The most obvious symptom of gonococcal prostatitis is prostate enlargement. Some patients may also experience pain and turbid urine.

Rectal examination revealed an enlarged prostate with obvious pain, cloudy urine, and increased white blood cells around it. If treatment is not timely, the prostate will form abscesses. Patients with chronic prostatitis may have no obvious symptoms. There is a phenomenon of urination in the morning. When the penis is squeezed, a small amount of white secretions are discharged. Examination of the secretions can reveal epithelial cells, a small number of pus cells and gonococci. Examination of the prostatic fluid shows a large number of white blood cells, a decrease in lecithin bodies, and even a large number of pus cells. After diagnosis, it should be treated thoroughly, otherwise it is difficult to cure it. The reason is that the prostate has many ducts and it is difficult for drugs to reach it, which becomes a "bomb shelter" for gonococci. Acute attacks are often caused by alcoholism, overwork, and frequent sexual changes.

Acute phase: perineum swelling, intermittent short convulsions. When gonococci invade the bulbourethral glands, perineum swelling and pain are more obvious, especially during urination or defecation. If it invades the bladder neck and trigone, symptoms include frequent urination, urgency, and pain. When the infection is severe, high fever, chills, difficulty urinating, and even urine retention may occur.

Chronic stage: Itching sensation in the urethra, burning and mild stinging during urination, the urine stream may become thin, weak or dripping; sexual dysfunction such as impotence and premature ejaculation may also occur.

Gonococcal prostatitis is a complication of gonococcal urethritis. In most patients, prostate inflammation can subside after treatment of acute gonococcal urethritis, so active treatment of acute gonococcal urethritis is the key to preventing gonococcal prostatitis.
