What are prostate nodules, prostate hyperplasia and prostate cancer?

The prostate is an important organ in the male reproductive system. Many people don’t know much about the prostate, nor do they know much about the symptoms of prostate diseases. So what are prostate nodules?

What are prostate nodules?

First of all, the nature of the nodule should be clarified. If it is a young person, the possibility of prostatitis is high, and if it is an elderly person, the possibility of prostate hyperplasia or prostate cancer is high. Frequent urination is an early signal of prostate hyperplasia nodules, especially the increase in nocturnal urination is more clinically significant. Generally speaking, the number of nocturnal urination is often parallel to the degree of prostate hypertrophy. Elderly people who originally could not get up at night now urinate 1 to 2 times at night, which often reflects the onset of early obstruction, and the development from 2 times a night to 4 to 5 times a night or even more indicates the development and aggravation of the disease. In the late stage of prostate nodules, urethral obstruction is severe, bladder compensation function is incomplete, and residual urine in the bladder continues to increase. When it exceeds 200 ml, a mass can be felt in the patient's lower abdomen, and urination is not in a line, but in a dripping state. As the pressure inside the bladder increases, it is transmitted upward to the kidneys, causing the pressure inside the kidneys on both sides to increase, causing water accumulation in both kidneys, damaging kidney function, and leading to chronic uremia.

Prostate Hyperplasia and Prostate Cancer

Prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), formerly known as prostate enlargement, is a common disease in elderly men and a benign lesion of the prostate. The cause of the disease is related to the imbalance of androgen and estrogen in the human body. Most elderly men have varying degrees of prostatic hyperplasia. After suffering from prostate cancer, most patients will have such a question, "Is my prostate cancer related to hyperplasia?" In fact, prostatic hyperplasia and prostate cancer are two different diseases. Although both occur in the prostate, generally speaking, prostatic hyperplasia itself will not turn into prostate cancer.

If the prostate is compared to an egg, then the prostate capsule is the eggshell, the peripheral zone of the prostate is the egg white, and the transitional zone of the prostate is the yolk in the center. Prostatic hyperplasia mainly occurs in the transitional zone in the central area of the prostate, while prostatic cancer mainly occurs in the peripheral zone of the prostate. There is a big difference in the anatomical location of the two. In addition, prostatic hyperplasia and prostate cancer are two completely different pathological processes. There is currently no evidence that benign prostatic hyperplasia can transform into prostate cancer.
