Does it hurt to remove the sutures?

Prepuce is a common symptom of many men. If the prepuce is too long, the only treatment is circumcision. After the circumcision, the wound needs stitches. After the wound heals, the stitches need to be removed. Most circumcised men are worried about whether the wound will feel painful when the stitches are removed. Does it hurt to remove the stitches? Let's take a look.

1. Does it hurt to remove the stitches?

You will feel pain when the stitches are removed, but it is not particularly painful. You can walk normally after the stitches are removed, but do not exercise too much.

2. Circumcision Surgery Details

Circumcision refers to the removal of excess foreskin on the penis to expose the glans penis. It is an effective treatment for phimosis, prepuce hyperplasia and prevention of their complications.

3. Contraindications

1. Acute purulent and gonococcal balanitis and phimosis.

2. Patients with hypospadias.

3. Those with severe bleeding tendency.

4. Preoperative preparation

1. Clean the vulva and foreskin. For those with phimosis, insert a blunt needle or a small plastic tube into the foreskin and inject disinfectant to rinse.

2. Shave pubic hair one day before or on the day of surgery.

3. Check coagulation function and procaine skin allergy test before surgery.

5. Surgical procedures

1. Single circumcision of the inner and outer circumcision

(1) Separation of adhesions between the foreskin and glans penis: Check whether there are adhesions between the foreskin and glans penis. If adhesions are present, separate them first.

(2) Pulling and fixing the foreskin: Place the foreskin in a natural position and clamp it with two vascular clamps at the center of the dorsal and ventral sides of the foreskin respectively.

(3) Design the incision and cut the foreskin vertically from the dorsal to the ventral side.

(4) Circumcision.

(5) Suturing the incision: Align the inner and outer layers of the foreskin and suture them together.

2. Ring cutting of inner and outer panels

(1) Draw the outer incision line and make the incision: With the foreskin tension-free, draw the outer incision line parallel to the coronal sulcus at about 0.5 cm distal to the coronal sulcus.

(2) Draw the inner plate incision line and make the incision: Flip the foreskin over the coronal sulcus to expose the coronal sulcus, flatten the inner plate of the foreskin, and draw the inner plate incision line parallel to the coronal sulcus about 0.5 cm proximal to the coronal sulcus.

(3) Resection of the foreskin: Use a sharp knife to cut the skin along the incision lines drawn on the outer and inner plates of the foreskin, and then make a longitudinal incision on the midline of the back of the foreskin to connect the horizontal incisions between the inner and outer plates. Use vascular forceps to lift up the two corners of the skin strip and separate them at the shallow layer of the blood vessels, so that the removed foreskin will gradually fall off.

(4) Suturing the incision: After the wound has completely stopped bleeding, align the edges of the inner and outer plates and perform intermittent sutures using conventional methods.

3. Penile circumcision

(1) Incision line drawing: Push the foreskin upwards to fully expose the glans penis, and use gentian violet to draw a circular excision area at the base of the penis.

(2) Circumcision: A strip of penile skin is removed in a circular pattern along the surgical line.

(3) Suturing the incision: Pull the skin on both sides of the incision and suture it intermittently with fine silk thread.
