Orchitis is a relatively common disease, usually caused by viruses or bacteria. It is quite harmful to men, often causing a decline in sperm quality and inducing male infertility. It needs timely treatment. For acute orchitis, some western medicines should be used, which have good anti-inflammatory and bactericidal effects. For patients with recurrent symptoms, traditional Chinese medicine can be used for treatment, and the effect is also good. 1. Western medicine treatment 1) Non-specific orchitis Usually, procaine penicillin is used, 800,000 units each time, twice a day, intramuscular injection. For those who are allergic to penicillin, cyclofloxacin lactate injection can be used intravenously, 200 mg each time for adults, once every 12 hours, for a course of 3-5 days. Or gentamicin, 80,000 units each time, twice a day, intramuscular injection, for 5-7 days. After the inflammation is under control, oral antibacterial drugs such as sinoproliferative proline, co-trimoxazole or ofloxacin are used instead. For example, oral fluazifop, 0.2 grams each time, 3 times a day; or talibitol, 0.2 grams each time, 2 times a day, for 5-7 days. 2) Mumps orchitis Caused by viral infection, it is rare before puberty. Orchitis often occurs 4-6 days after mumps, but may also be without mumps symptoms. About 70% of cases are unilateral, and 50% of the affected testicles are atrophied. Bilateral testicular infection can lead to infertility. According to the clinical manifestations and signs, laboratory tests can make a clear diagnosis. However, it still needs to be distinguished from acute epididymitis clinically. In the early stage of acute orchitis, the inflamed epididymis can be palpated, but in the later stage, the boundary between the epididymis and the testicle is unclear. Urethral secretions and purulent urine are not systemic infectious diseases and can help with diagnosis. 2. Chinese medicine treatment The treatment principle is to clear away heat and detoxify and to clear the liver and calm fire. The drugs include Gentiana, Bupleurum, Phellodendron, Scutellaria, Plantago, and Zexie. If it is viral orchitis, you can use Chinese medicines such as Yinhua, Lianshao, Isatis, Scrophularia, Taraxacum, and Indigo. Or use the Chinese medicine preparation Isatis injection 2 ml each time, 1-2 times a day, intramuscular injection. Topical medications Applying it to the scrotum can relieve pain and help reduce testicular swelling. |
